NEW LEADERSHIP DELIVERING RESULTS FOR OUR COMMUNITY
My name is Joana Scholtz. I am a U.S. Army veteran, retired teacher, 23 year resident of District 40, and mother of a 2006 Lansing High School graduate.
I graduated in 1975 from Gage Park High School in Chicago, Illinois. I graduated in 1979 from Knox College (Galesburg, Illinois) with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Russian Studies, and in 2001 obtained a Masters of Education in Special Education at University of Missouri, Kansas City.
I was commissioned in the United States Army upon graduation from Knox College as a Military Intelligence Officer, and served on active duty for eight years. I attended the Military Intelligence Officer Basic and Advanced Courses at Fort Huachuca, Arizona. I served in the 107th Military Intelligence Battalion and 7th Artillery Brigade in Fort Ord, California; 3rd Infantry Division, G-2 in Wurzburg, Germany; and the Military Intelligence Center and School at Fort Huachuca, Arizona. It was an honor to serve my Country and I remain a Patriot.
As a parent and educator, I am invested in all of our kids' futures, and know the importance of supporting our schools. I am an army veteran who knows the daily sacrifices of our members of the Armed Forces, so that all citizens can be free. As our community is poised to grow, I want to ensure the state invests in our community to have the right balance of infrastructure and business incentives. I've served my family, my country, my community, now I'm ready to serve the people of District 40 (Lansing and S.E. Leavenworth) as our State Representative. I would like you to stand with me as we work to build a brighter tomorrow for our kids.
